A step back in time on castle trip

Maple Class from Oak View Academy have been enjoying their theme of castles, knights and dragons and recently visited Whittington Castle in Oswestry.

What a wonderful time they had! The children dressed up as a character – someone who lived inside the castle and learnt about their roles. They also enjoyed the story of Dick Whittington and took park in a quiz trail.

The children were dressed up and each had a role to play in the quiz trail, for example, the witches and wizards taught the other groups spells and the guards protected the castle from the Welsh Raiders! The pupils learnt how the castle had been invaded in the past and about spies who hid in the castle to get information against their enemies.

A fantastic opportunity to bring history alive.
