St Martin’s Academy opened as brand new primary free school in Chester in September 2013.

The school was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted 18 months later and is currently five-times oversubscribed.

An enquiry based approach to learning is at the heart of the curriculum at St Martin’s. Pupils are encouraged to think differently and develop their strengths as learners, as well as excelling academically. An exciting and varied enrichment programme complements the curriculum and pupils take part in sport, music, art and languages.

Housed in a purpose-built environment, St Martin’s meets the needs of the modern working family by operating a longer school day and extended wrap around care for up to 51 weeks of the year.

St Martin’s has no catchment area and admits pupils on a part distance/ part ballot basis. This ensures that a genuine mix of children can attend the school.
