Acresfield Academy is a one-form entry school serving the community of Upton, on the outskirts of Chester.

The Ofsted outstanding primary, next to Chester Zoo, prides itself on being at the heart of the community and has close working relationships with parents and families.

Each class at the school, and its nursery, is named after an animal from the zoo, which they often hear when they are getting hungry!

The school joined North West Academies Trust on October 1 2019.

The aim is to push standards even higher and enjoy the opportunity to share resources with the trust’s other schools, including Delamere Academy, near Northwich, and St Martin’s Academy, Chester, which are both also rated outstanding.

Mr Dixon, who took the role of Headteacher 11 years ago, when it ‘required improvement,’ has built a strong and successful team, who have worked together to secure the outstanding grading from Ofsted. He said: “It is important that we don’t stop at outstanding – we want to give children the best possible education.”

Acresfield is rated the second best primary in West Cheshire according to the Real Schools Guide, just pipped to top spot by Delamere.

“Our school is a happy place to learn and our children tell us very clearly they enjoy coming here each day. So please come and visit us!”
