Oak View are second highest in west Cheshire for writing progress

Oak View Academy are celebrating the latest schools’ league table results, which placed them second highest in west Cheshire for progress in writing, and as Winsford’s top performing school for attainment.

Executive Head Fiona Whittaker, said: “We are very pleased with our 2018 SATs results, particularly our progress in writing, which is the second highest in Cheshire West and Chester.

“We’ve been working on improving writing since 2016 and the impact is clearly being seen. Well done to all our children and staff for their hard work.”

Ms Whittaker has been in charge of Oak View since it became part of North West Academies Trust (NWAT) in 2014.

Then, she spearheaded its transformation from being ranked the second worst in the country to one of the fastest-improving around, now rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

She has now been appointed by NWAT as Executive Head at Weaverham Academy, formerly University Primary Academy Weaverham, and will oversee both schools.

Ms Whittaker added: “We are in a very strong position to implement the changes we’ve seen at Oak View, at Weaverham.

“At Oak View there were many obstacles to overcome but we quickly learned that, with a solid foundation and a team who wanted the best for our children, we could achieve something very special.”
