Two North West Academies Trust primary schools are celebrating after being named in the top 130 in the country, according to The Sunday Times.
Acresfield Primary School, Chester, and Delamere Academy, near Northwich, have been listed amongst England’s top schools, based on SATs results.
Out of more than 32,000 state primaries, Acresfield were 75th and Delamere 128th.
The guide is recognised as the authoritative survey of schools, and it enables parents to compare a school’s performance against others on a local or national level.
On average, across Reading, Writing and Maths, all children at Acresfield are working to expected standard, and 33% are working to a higher standard, which shows consistent improvement.
Delamere has also shown improvement on the previous year, with 21% of 11-year-olds above the expected standard.
Both headteachers have put their success in the classroom down to the diversity of learning, which gives children new experiences outside the classroom.
Mike Dixon, Headeacher at Acresfield said: “We are very pleased with the results the children have achieved.
“They reflect the hard work of the children and staff and the team work established with our parents to ensure our children achieve highly.
“Acresfield children leave us fully prepared for the next stage of their learning and we recognise the SATs are just a small part of this.
“There is a lot of other work that takes place each day to broaden the children’s skills across the curriculum and to develop them socially in order to support their personal development too.
“It is great to have some of these achievements recognised.”
Julie Clayton, Headteacher at Delamere, added: “We were 366th last year and 128th this year. Brilliant news for the school and a testament to the hard work and attitude of staff and children.
“It is a real team effort and one we can collectively be proud of.
“Results like this prove that a nurturing ethos and a full and balanced curriculum really helps our learners to achieve great things.”
Delamere Academy was named in the top ten non-fee paying primary schools by Tatler magazine last year, based on the wealth of sports and activities on offer.
Steve Docking CEO of NWAT is delighted with the achievements. He said: “These schools are hugely successful, not only in terms of their excellent SATs results, but also because they are thriving schools with happy, engaged children.
“It is testament to the hard work of all involved, who recognise the importance of giving children the best possible education.”
