Making memories for life on week-long residential

What an amazing, adventurous week Northgate Class from St Martin’s Academy have enjoyed at the Education Away! residential centre in Plas Nantglyn, Denbigh. The children have challenged themselves, increased their powers of independence and, as always, worked spectacularly as a team!

The children had the opportunity to take part in a huge range of activities including lots of long nature walks; den building; nature scavenger hunts; orienteering and, a particular favourite, the ‘water run’challenge (see video below).

They even managed to find time in their busy schedule to celebrate St Martin’s sending its 1,000th Tweet!

Northgate had an excellent experience at Education Away activity centre, Plas Nantglyn, with a home-from-home experience. This independently family run centre led by Mr Welch was the perfect way to introduce Northgate to a residential visit off site. The local area was stunning and the children definitely made the most of the outdoor space. Residential visits, although challenging, are important in teaching the children new, life-long skills, creating memorable experiences and a way of developing greater independence. Each year the children will face new challenges although the teaching team hope that Education Away will have more than prepared them for this!
