Delamere CofE Academy have more than £20,000 to play with after putting the fun into fundraising throughout the academic year.
The school’s annual Sports Day, Summer Fair and Beer Festival helped top off a bumper spell of fundraising led by a PTA determined to make a difference to pupils.
Now plans are in place to purchase new creative play equipment, in addition to the new £10,000 play area and MacBooks they are already benefiting from.
Head of School Julie Clayton said: “Everyone involved has put a great deal of effort and hard work into the events, and we feel extremely lucky to have so much support from our parents, friends of the school and local businesses.
“Some people think Delamere is well-funded and doesn’t need additional money from the PTA. However, the reality is that the money raised is vital to enabling us to purchase important additional facilities which make a huge difference to the way our children are educated.
“The partnership is always great to see, and these events really demonstrate the positivity of teamwork and unity.”
Events have also included a fish and chips night, a willow weaving evening, Easter Bingo, several discos and a hugely successful Christmas Fair, which alone raised £2,379.
There have also been raffles, book fairs, tuck shops, second-hand uniform sales, cinema nights and cake sales.
Co Chair of the PTA Lis Houston said: “Thank you to everyone who has attended our events, donated prizes or given their time. We are very grateful to the many local businesses who continue to support us, but would like to give a particular mention to the The Hollies Farm Shop, H E Coward of Frodsham, Delamere Stores and The Village Restaurant at Blakemere Village.”
