Delamere Academy celebrates its second year as borough’s top performing primary

Based on SATs results, Delamere are top of all schools in the Cheshire West and Chester Council boundary, with 96 per cent of children achieving the expected standard.

The school, in Stoney Lane, is also in the top 1% of schools nationally.

Head of School Julie Clayton, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be top of the table again.

“We pride ourselves on helping children achieve their very best in a nurturing environment and it is a real boost to see all the hard work paying off.

“I feel very proud of the children and our wonderful team who have made this possible.”

It’s a second reason to celebrate in the space of a few weeks for the school, which is part of North West Academies Trust (NWAT).

Just last month it was named by The Sunday Times in the top 128 state primary schools in the country.

Another NWAT academy celebrating its position in the SATs Results Tables is Acresfield Primary School, Chester, which is tenth in west Cheshire.

The school, near Chester Zoo, was also featured in The Sunday Times, with a position of 75th nationally.

Mike Dixon, Headteacher at Acresfield said: “We are very pleased with the results the children have achieved.

“They reflect the hard work of the children and staff and the team work established with our parents to ensure our children achieve highly.

“Acresfield children leave us fully prepared for the next stage of their learning and we recognise the SATs are just a small part of this.

“There is a lot of other work that takes place each day to broaden the children’s skills across the curriculum and to develop them socially in order to support their personal development too.

“It is great to have some of these achievements recognised.”

Steve Docking CEO of NWAT is delighted. He said: “These schools are hugely successful, not only in terms of their excellent SATs results, but also because they are thriving schools with happy, engaged children.

“It is a testament to the hard work of all involved. They recognise the importance of giving children the best possible education.”
