Big strides for youngsters at Oak View Academy

Little legs took on a big challenge during a one-mile sponsored toddle at Oak View Academy.

Youngsters from the school’s nursery and reception classes were joined by their families and teachers to complete four laps of the playing fields.

The intrepid tots earned sponsorship money for completing their challenge, which will be used to buy new early years equipment.

Deputy Headteacher and Pre-school Lead, Charlotte Alford said: “The glorious Autumnal weather made for a lovely brisk sunny morning walk, which was enjoyed by all involved.

“The children had huge grins on their faces and all completed four laps of the football pitch – which is a long way for little legs!

“Well done to all who took part and helped us raise money for new early years equipment.”

Management at Oak View extended the nursery provision at Acorn Pre-school in September last year.

Since then, children as young as two have been admitted at Oak View Academy, in a move designed to give them a head start on their educational journey.

Amongst the many services at the Preschool, children benefit from significant speech and language support to reduce barriers to learning.

Oak View Academy is part of North West Academies Trust (NWAT) – one of the highest performing trusts in the country, with a proven track record of improving schools.
