St Martin’s Academy, Delamere CofE Academy and Oak View Academy joined forces to compete in an inter-house orienteering competition this week.
With all the schools using the same house system, we were able to mix the children from various year groups, to work together in an exciting and particularly muddy challenge! All of the houses worked exceptionally well together and showed perseverance and teamwork throughout.
The groups were timed to see how long it would take them to complete the course and then the houses were given points dependent on their finishing times. Owls came out on top this time with both groups finishing in just under 30 minutes, which is a brilliant time for the children who had never navigated around the course before.
Next week, Watergate and Northgate will be taking on the orienteering challenge and after last year’s experience Northgate will be completing the slightly longer course which will explore different parts of the forest.
This was a fantastic event where the children got to develop their map reading and problem solving skills whilst getting the opportunity to work in a team with children from different schools.
